Mike Montemurro, founder of Atlantic Pinstriping, learned early on that quality counts, and he has built his pinstriping business around that principle. In an industry where customers have the option of choosing cheaper means of pin striping, Mike Montemurro has revolutionized the way hand-painted pin striping is applied to vehicles, resulting in a higher-quality product

Mike was first introduced to the auto body world at an early age; he began working in a body shop right after high school. At that time, the enterprising side of Mike surfaced, and at the age of 21, he opened his own body shop in Lindenhurst, New York. Through the operation of his body shop, Mike was exposed to pin striping and immediately saw the potential in providing a quality service.

Equipped with this newfound interest in pin striping, Mike decided to sell his body shop and open Monte's Pin Striping so he could explore the pin striping business. His belief that a market existed for quality hand-painted pin striping was quickly confirmed as area dealerships were eager to distinguish their automobiles with the addition of Monte's hand-painted pin stripes. Mike's business was so prosperous that he was soon generating six figures a year just painting pinstripes by hand.

Then in 1994, wishing to tap into another market, Mike moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Starting from scratch in a new market, the quality Mike brought to his business was quickly recognized; as he was striping cars the first weekend he established his business there. At that time, Mike also began to include a guarantee of his work to compete with tape pin stripers. The addition of the guarantee further differentiated the quality and caliber of the work Mike was able to offer, as tape pin stripers could never make such a guarantee of their work.

However, Mike's success was built largely upon his ability to apply pin stripes by hand. By applying pin stripes in such a manner, Mike was often hindered in his work by weather conditions: windy or rainy days would make it difficult to stripe cars. This was all it took to get Mike's enterprising mind working on a solution to this obstacle. He designed and manufactured a pantented pinstriping tool that would replace his brush, and the result was a 300 percent increase in application efficiency. Automobiles that once took over 30 minutes to stripe could now be striped in less than 10 minutes simply by using Mike's new invention. The invention of this tool not only allowed Mike to stripe more automobiles in less time, but it also blended the art of hand-painting stripes with science. Now, with proper training on the use of our patented pinstriping tool, and on the proprietary techniques Mike developed, it is easy to achieve a quality hand-painted stripe.
